I came across a weird situation today while I was installing SharePoint 2013 server with service pack 1. When I pressed the setup executable it allowed me to enter the SharePoint product key and agree to the conditions, but then it went right into installing the SharePoint files on the C:\. In this particular installation I needed the files to be installed on a non-system drive and I needed to ensure that SharePoint was going to be installed as a “Complete” server. If I clicked on the auto run or the setup executable I was unable to get the SharePoint role or installation path to show up in the setup installer even with run as the administrator.
The answer was in Windows Explorer to right click on the mounted SharePoint ISO drive and select “Install or run program from your media”. This was the only method that seemed to work.
